Five ways to know you’ve hired a GREAT Realtor

Did you know, there are over three million Realtors in the United States of America, and growing

fast. Those estimates are straight from the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials.

ARELLO for short. A quick search of the Medina realtors.com website shows over 1200

member Realtors right here in Medina County! 1200!!! That’s a lot of Realtors, and that’s a lot of choices. And, unfortunately, a lot of ways to get it wrong.

1200 Realtors n Medina County alone. That’s a lot of choices!

A great Realtor will help you find the right home, sell your home at the right price, and/or help

you to navigate the laws and policies and general issues surrounding your next real estate

transaction. Those are facts, and any Realtor should be skilled enough to do that. And make

no mistake…most Realtors are excellent at what they do.

But they do have different skill levels, different things to bring to the table. Different methods,

personalities, etc. Choosing one isn’t just about their skill, it’s a personal decision for you.

It is important to have someone on your side that gets you, and wants your success first.

Here are five things to check off of your list when choosing a Realtor. If your choice doesn’t check off all five…keep looking!

1). Do you trust them? This is by far and away the most important thing to consider. The

answer can not be “maybe”. Your Realtor will be working on your behalf at all times, not just

when you are watching. And you need to be 100% sure that the information they are giving you

is accurate, researched, and honest. Don’t forget, a Realtor works for themselves too, and

makes money when they close a deal. Make sure their interest is in your success, not their

own.

2). Do they have experience? Remember, experience doesn’t just mean time on the job.

Determine what will make your dreams come true, and make sure who represents you has

experience doing that! Experience in your neighborhood means they’ve sold there before and

know the local property values and behind the scenes issues. Experience in your price range

means they know how to get what you expect, and can find the type of property you seek.

For instance, The Hassler Group has over 24 years experience helping people buy

and sell luxury homes and new construction projects right here in Medina County. If that is what

you want to do, then a Realtor team, like Roger and Nancy, is who you want to call. They’ve

been there…done that!

3). Do they hustle? We don’t mean do they move fast and talk faster. We mean are they

always available to you. Do they go with your schedule, show up when the opportunities are

ripe, bring you properties to consider when you didn’t expect that they would. Do they respond

to your calls? (This is a pet peeve of ours, and we promise, we will!). You aren’t just looking for

someone who works hard…you want someone who will work hard for you!

4). Is your agent part of a team? This is not a make it or break it designation, but having a

team on your side has advantages. Two people who know and care about you is never a bad

thing. Agents have multiple clients, and one Realtor can’t be in two places at the same time.

Also, teams can have different people with different specialties. For instance, The Hassler

Group is a Broker/Agent team, one that knows the ins and outs, and can represent you in many

ways.

5). Finally…and most importantly…Do you like your Realtor? This one is personal. You are

going to be spending a lot of time with this person. And you’ll think of this person whenever you

think back to your experience. No one wants to hurt someone’s feelings, but it’s your

experience that matters. If the choice is wrong, just let them know it’s not a fit, and move on. With so many options, make sure you are working with someone you like. If you wouldn’t invite them into your new home, you may not want them to help you buy it.

Remember, our knowledge and experience matters, because your experience matters. We love

helping people make the best decisions in their real estate transactions and that’s why we put

this list together for you. We hope it helps! If we can ever be of service to you, as a Realtor

team, or to help you pick out the right one, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We are Nancy and Roger Hassler, of The Hassler Group.
